Duct Tape Flip Flops

I know what you're thinking!  Duct Tape Flip Flops?  What the...??  I thought the same thing...BUT...surprisingly, these bad boys are super comfy and we've actually LOVED wearing them.

{ignore the toes ~ I failed to get a pedi before we did this}

Aren't they ROCKIN'?!?

What you'll need:

Corrugated Cardboard ~ We just used an old moving box
Duct Tape ~ I prefer the DUCK BRAND
{comes in a variety of solids and prints}
Scissors
Sharpie {or any other type of marker}

Step 1} Trace around a pair of your shoes with your sharpie on a flat, corrugated piece of cardboard.
Step 2} Cut shapes out.
I recommend that you let the kidlets do the tracing and you do the cutting.

 {I just realized that my sons feet are bigger than mine}

Step 3}  Start wrapping strips of your duct tape around the cardboard until the front is covered.  Don't worry about what the back of your flip flop looks like ~ it'll get covered soon.

Step 4} Flip (teehee) the flip flop over, place your foot on the back, and make a dot with your sharpie in between your toes (where the strap would go)

Step 5} Take your scissors {job for mom or dad} and poke through the cardboard at your pen mark.  We poked through the back and then went through the front to push the 'fray' back through the hole.

You'll end up with something that looks like this:

Step 6} From the duct tape you've chosed to use for the straps cut two strips (about 12-14 inches).
Step 7} Fold in half
Step 8} Fold the remaining sticky part in over the other section

Step 9}Fold strip in half (with seams on the outside) and stick the ends through the bottom of the flip flop. Keep about 1/2" to 1" inch excess in the back.

Step 10} Tape the back down with a strip of duct tape.
Step 11} Flip over, place foot on flip flop, position the strips/straps according to your foot and hold.

Step 12} Tape strips/straps down on the back.
Step 13} Cover back of the flip flop with matching duct tape.

Step 14} Take a small strip and rip or cut it in half.  You can use either fashion of duct tape you used for this...or a completely different one...it's up to you. Wrap this piece around the base of the strap (where the strap meets between your toes).

Step 15} Cover the entire back with duct tape.

And voila...a super easy, super fun, super inexpensive pair of
